About Heather Farris >
In this weeks video we talk about retargeting ads and the value they can bring to your brand.
But before you can ever start running retargeting ads you need to have your offer & backend setup to capture those leads and sales.
But let’s just pretend you have all that done and you’re ready to run ads.
Let’s break it down.
This Pinterest ad format is designed for when someone has seen your content already. Retargeting ads historically cost less money & convert more people. These are a great way to plug the leaks in your existing ad campaigns.

This really depends on how you want to present your ads to those who have already seen your content.
Let’s breakdown the most common ways II use retargeting ads for clients & how I use them.
This is usually the type of ad most people use when setting up these ads. They just retarget people who have been on their site regardless of the page or content they were consuming. This is effective and I use this type of audience but there are additional options as well.
This can go so much further than if they saw the pin. You can create audiences of pinners who actually engaged with your promoted pins. This is really effective if you are wanting to be really strategic. You can get really strategic with this if you’d like to.
I recently took on a client that wasn’t running any retargeting ads so I set up an ad group for them with website visitors but it wasn’t until I created an add to cart audience that the retargeting ad starting converting.
If someone took the time to add the product to their cart you know they were 90% of the way there… so let’s give them the extra push.
This video details the 4 audiences we used in 2020 in the retargeting format that converted the best.
Pinterest ads work so well because they are native in the feed. They don’t disrupt and are a natural part of the experience.
Pinners have reported finding new brands they love simply because of Pinterest ads. No one loves ads but on Pinterest they’re different which is why they work so well.
Pinterest ads started in 2014 so they are a relatively new platform but they are always expanding and getting better. Just because they are newer doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give them a chance.
It’s no surprise that Pinterest is dominated by females but more and more men are also joining the platform. But since most women are the decision makers in the household you can pretty well guarantee that she’s looking for you.
Especially since 80% of all US moms are using the platform. (source)
Most people discount the fact that these moms are millennials and they’re currently 24-39 years old. (source) These people are planning for everything from first careers to new babies & college tuition. They are your people and they are using Pinterest.
