E-commerce mistakes can negatively impact your store conversions and cause your shop to not make money. Listen in on the 7 common e-commerce mistakes to avoid that most beginner shop owners make & turn these around as soon as you can.
If you aren’t optimizing your store for mobile including your images then you may be losing sales. You can check your analytics to see just how many users are hitting your store on mobile. For our clients in our agency over 90% of all users are on a mobile device or tablet.
Your customers are curious about who they are buying from and in some cases what causes they support. Use your about page to give some background to your mission, vision and values as well as any team members that you want to include.
Use your contact page to allow people to slide into your inbox in case they run across a question or problem when shopping on your site.
You can’t rely on darkly lit photos that don’t showcase your product in full. Make sure you take bright photos that show all the sides as well as the inside of your product if necessary.
Boring shop listings that don’t tell your potential customer about the product could lead to lost sales. Make sure to include some backstory if you have one as well as how to care for the item and any other relevant information.
This really relates back to my previous point but still… add all the relevant information about the item.
Customers are more likely to buy if they see other people are also buying and loving the item.
If you can’t get reviews on the site offer your customers with a coupon.
You can also collect user generated content as well. Any social media posts featuring your product is fair game. Grab it and feature it.
This is quite possibly one of my biggest pet peeves. If you have broken links or navigation I won’t stick around to buy your product. I think a lost of people think this too. Make sure all the links and navigation work.
Your customers want to be told what to do. Don’t offer them a learn more button. Offer them a buy now button. Be clear and don’t use passive language.
Someone may be looking to grab a coupon code or just want to learn more about your company. Not having an email list is just silly and you are losing sales. It’s cheaper to convert existing customers to customers again than go out and find another.
