Pinterest Marketing for service providers is possible despite what many people think. A lot of marketers still think Pinterest is only for DIY crafters, food bloggers and mommy bloggers but that’s simply not the truth anymore.
As a service provider I have used Pinterest to market my own content for years and while it is a slower burn for me I have to say there are people there looking for me.
Service providers face some challenges though but we are going to break them down and I’ll tell you my strategy to using a Pinterest traffic strategy.
Many service providers don’t create content on a regular basis because we are inherently just doing our client work 90% of the time.
There comes a time when being a service provider can feel like a constant find clients, serve clients cycle and frankly it gets boring.
When you finally get bored of just doing client work (if you ever get bored) and you want a new way to generate revenue and leads, Pinterest might just be the place to go.
Creating and marketing your own content vs working on client projects is one of the first challenges. You have to make time to create and market your own content.
The next challenge is whether your ideal client is actually on Pinterest and what phase of their journey are they in?
This is where making time to create, publish & market your content could bring you new leads and sales, but they may be in a phase of their business where they don’t need you yet.
I like to be transparent here but it’s entirely up to you and possible to generate leads and sales on Pinterest for your service based business.
I create educational content that brings me new leads that I can nurture to the point of converting them into a sale then eventually a client.
This is one of those things before you begin a Pinterest marketing strategy you want to know.
Like I just mentioned I intentionally market to those beginners who can’t hire me yet but will eventually hire my team.
The first thing you need to do is head to the Pinterest search bar and type in your service.
For me I found a lot of content about how to use Pinterest for beginners. This is where I knew I could convert people to my email list and small digital offers which leads to sales calls.
For me, I know if I could get them into my world I could nurture them to a sale. So let’s talk about a content marketing strategy to feed into Pinterest.
A lot of service providers actually create content for other platforms like Instagram or TikTok but many don’t think to publish on their blogs.
You do not need to be a “blogger” to create content. I really despise the term blogger.
Creating content for your audience to help them over the hump is actually really valuable.
We as people aren’t just sold on a service because you talk about it on Instagram. We all go through a phase of awareness, consideration and purchase.
We shop around, read reviews and think about which option is the best for us.
This is where creating content and providing value can really help your audience to become buyers.
Create content that prepares your pre-client to work with you. For example, you create a piece of content that shifts the mindset of your reader and teaches them how to do the thing you do.
For me this is creating content that teaches my reader how important Pinterest is to a traffic strategy. Then I teach them the basics of what to include and ask them to sign up for my email list. From there I nurture them to purchase a digital product or hire me for consulting.
This method has worked so well for me since adding in the extra layer of video content because it increases the trust by 10.
But you don’t just have to promote free content. You can also promote your landing pages for opt-ins and products.
This is not a one-size fits all approach. What matters the most is you have a funnel to get people from not knowing you to getting into your calendar.

There are a variety of niches on Pinterest for business but this is what I’m seeing the most when I’m on the platform.
Everyone starts at zero and this again is where my personal strategy comes into play. I start with beginners with my free content and move them into my paid content or services.
For your particular business make sure to go look for your competitors and their content to see what your audience is already searching for.
Last but not least is to try promoted pins for your business. I find that leads on Pinterest do cost me a bit more than they did on Facebook. This is because my personal audience is more highly active on Facebook but that isn’t always the case.
You can start with promoting a lead magnet funnel or small digital offer.
If all else fails run a low budget retargeting campaign to pull the leaks back in from your other ads that are running adjacent on other platforms.
Using any marketing platform as a service business is going to take work. Especially using Pinterest for service providers… Pinterest wants content and they don’t want the same thing over and over.
You do not need to be a blogger to promote your service based business on Pinterest.
So what do you think? Will you promote your business on Pinterest?
