About Heather Farris >
As we are creating Pinterest marketing strategies, one thing I see a lot of people lacking in client and student accounts is a variety of all types of Pinterest pins. As you are creating your Pinterest strategy, I want you to consider all the different types of creatives you can add to make the most of the traffic, engagement, and audience building on Pinterest.
In today’s post, I will walk you through three distinct types of Pinterest pins that I bet you haven’t thought of, that aren’t repurposed video pins, and may not have been used on your Pinterest account yet. You’ll soon be adding transparent marketing strategies into your Pinterest plan.
The three types of Pinterest pins content creators need to use are going to be:
So, let’s talk about each of these, how they will work in your Pinterest strategy, and what you can do to create them.

First thing, this is the first example I want to show you. This is an example of a Pinterest pin for an infographic that you can create.
This is just a Canva public template. I did not create or design it from scratch. So that’s exciting. Just know you can use public templates like this and rebrand it for yourself with your content creation.
Step-based pins like these are highly saveable and the goal of infographic pins is to drive saves. So, people start seeing more of your new content as they interact on Pinterest in their related feeds and home feeds.
Saves are going to help put more of your content into their feeds. Here’s another example for blog content that teaches budgeting or finance. You could take the main bullet points of a blog post and make them the points on your infographic.
Now, there are ChatGPT templates that you can get in my AI template library to create infographic copy for you that you’d just put right onto a pin. So then ChatGPT can do part of the work, and you can just do the design work, and that’s always fun.

Now, let’s move on to animated pins. A great way to repurpose here too is you can take last month’s static pins and use them again this month just with animations or videos added in. Leave everything the same, including design, and just animate them. They’ll be in a new format. I’ll show you how.
If you are worried about having the same graphic appear on Pinterest again, change the colors and the image or video, and don’t worry about the rest. Honestly, far too many people worry about far too many things. I would rather you just get fast-acting and do it messy.
Now, there are a couple of different ways in which you can animate your pins.
You can animate an entire Pinterest pin if you click on the background of it, or you can animate certain parts.

If you want to animate the text, you can animate the text. If you wanted to animate the image, then you could animate the image. Any single element, you can animate it.
For this one, I just animated this computer graphic. Inside of Canva, just use the magic animator button with their new Magic Studio. It will recommend a style for you based on that graphic, which I love.
Now, let’s go to this pin right here, click the image’s background, and click animate. I like this magic animator button in Canva with their new Magic Studio.
You can also animate the background or full pin, which will animate everything on it, like this version below.

When you download the animated pins, you can download them as an MP4 video. Alternatively, you can download them as a GIF, it’s a short clip with no sound. GIFs are around 4 seconds.
When you use anything GIF or MP4-related, the best practice is to upload those pins directly to Pinterest and not through a scheduling tool. So use the native Pinterest scheduler for this.

The final option for types of Pinterest pins you may not have considered is text-only pins. The reason I recommend these, on occasion, is to interrupt the feed. Almost everything on Pinterest is image-based or video, so the occasional Pinterest pin that is not image-based stands out.
You want to use a very minimalist, text-only pin like this one. We have a focus without an image in the background and just some text on the screen. So that’s what we are looking to do here.
I am making more of these for my clients, their types of products, and small businesses. This is a good one. You can use these as animated pins and as plain text-only pins.
The goal for this pin type is to drive engagement, saves, and Pinterest traffic by stopping the scroll. So, this pin type can do all of the jobs for a full funnel, even affiliate funnels.
With those are your examples, I hope this gives you some new creative ideas and new ways to create Pinterest pins for your website, every blog post, YouTube channel, Etsy Store, as an E-commerce shop owner, you name it.
