ChatGPT and Pinterest marketing… What could be more fun? I’m sure you’ve heard all about ChatGPT already and how it’s going to take over the world and kill Google. Rest assured that isn’t going to happen, but it might make the process a little different. Let’s dive into how to use ChatGPT prompts for your business paired with Pinterest.

I honestly don’t think that is likely to ever happen but I do think it’s a great tool for using alongside Pinterest to speed up some of the more time consuming tasks.

So let’s dive into ChatGPT prompts for Pinterest you can use to speed along your marketing workflow.

Should I use ChatGPT for my Pinterest marketing & is it legal to use that content?

This has been a burning question inside my paid member group, Pin Profit Academy as of late. 

Should I use the content that ChatGPT provides and how heavily should I edit it?

I fully believe that you are perfect legal, morally sound and ethically reasoned to use content that comes from ChatGPT and other AI tools under this one exception…

You edit the content that it gives you to match your own voice and brand identity.

I wouldn’t use ChatGPT content for clients as is and I wouldn’t use it as is for myself either.

So, it’s up to you to decide for yourself how much of the content it gives you that you’ll use before you edit it into a new piece of content altogether.

10 Ways to Use ChatGPT for Your Pinterest Marketing Strategy

These 10 ways of using ChatGPT are all going to vary depending on how you ask it to provide the content to you. This is why a little further down in the post I’m providing examples as well as prompts you can use inside of ChatGPT or even Canva Magic Write among other AI tools.

• Pin text overlays
• Pinterest idea pin topics
• Pinterest ads headlines
• Pinterest ad text overlays
• Pinterest board names
• Pinterest ads keyword research
• Pinterest pin topics to make pins on
• Re-work or expand Pinterest content (descriptions, headlines, text overlays, board names and even expand on the list of keywords

ChatGPT Prompts for Pinterest Ads

ChatGPT for Pinterest ads is a more advanced use case but it can definitely be useful with the right commands.

Pinterest Ad Headlines

Use ChatGPT to generate a list of Pinterest ad headlines to use in  your campaigns. This is great if you’re not very familiar with writing persuasive copy. You can get some examples of these then take them to the platform and search for them to see what else comes up in that search.

This is also a great way to ensure you’re using a keyword in your headline. 

In this example I asked ChatGPT to generate 10 Pinterest headlines for my ads on the topic of selling handmade clay pots to women 30-45 who love houseplants.

Chat GPT Pinterest Ads Headline Prompt: 

Please write 5 persuasive Pinterest ad headlines targeting women 30-45 who love indoor houseplants and are looking to purchase handmade clay pots.

You can even go as far as telling it what style of voice it should use if you’d like to amend the prompt to include that.

ChatGPT Prompts for Pinterest Boards

I will warn you about using ChatGPT for Pinterest board ideation. It’s just ideation! You will need to verify that the keyword for that board title it provides actually exists on Pinterest and pinners are looking for it.

In this example, I’m asking it to generate a list of board titles I can use to promote growing organic tomatoes.

ChatGPT Pinterest Board Idea Prompt:

Please generate a list of Pinterest board titles on the topic of “growing organic tomatoes.”

You can see that these examples it gave me are a little wordy, especially for board titles. You can see below that I searched for one of those phrases it gave me and that is a valid search on Pinterest. I would always validate the content for board titles it gives to you just to ensure you’re hitting the right target audience.

ChatGPT Prompts for Pinterest Board Descriptions

Next up with using ChatGPT and Pinterest is to have it generate a Pinterest board description for you.

ChatGPT Pinterest Board Description Prompt:

Please write a 300 character description for a Pinterest board talking to women 25-45 about how to grow tomatoes in pots on the porch using the keyword “growing organic tomatoes.”

In this response I would edit out the hashtags and remove the beginning that says “welcome to our Pinterest board”… Those aren’t needed here.

You’ll likely need to edit it to include a minimum of 5 keywords in the description as well unless you give all 5 of them to ChatGPT to populate.

How to Use ChatGPT for Pinterest Pins

This example is a little more broad and you’ll need to validate that the content it gives you is in line with your own marketing strategy as well as the content and products you have on hand.

ChatGPT Standard Pinterest Pin Topics Prompt:

Please generate a list of 5 Pinterest pin topics on the topic of how to style handmade clay pots for houseplants.

I would just verify that these ideas are in line with the direction of your content but these could then end up being titles, text overlays or just content you start on your website then bring to Pinterest.

ChatGPT Pinterest Pin Description Prompt:

This prompt is really similar to the board version, but notice the command change.

Please write a 300 character description for a Pinterest pin talking to women 25-45 about how to grow tomatoes in pots on the porch using the keyword “growing organic tomatoes.”

I swapped the word board for pin in this example and if you compare the two outputs you’ll notice they’re very different.

ChatGPT for Pinterest Pin Title Prompt:

In this example we aren’t necessarily writing persuasive copy so the example is different than if you were writing for advertising.

Write 5 Pinterest pin titles using the keyword organic “how to grow organic tomatoes” that is 70 characters or less using an informative voice.

ChatGPT Pinterest Text Overlay Prompt:

In this example, we aren’t just writing a title but a text overlay so we are going to ask for that but notice that the output just looks like titles. You’ll need to tweak these when you design to make them work.

Please write 5 Pinterest pin text overlays targeting women 25-45 for wedding gift ideas to give the bride using the keyword “unique gifts under $25”.

Here are a couple of examples of pins I made with a couple of these text overlays (heavily edited) so you can see the design.

ChatGPT Idea Pin Topic Prompt:

Please generate a list of 10 Pinterest idea pin topics to use for content talking to women 25-45 about how to grow tomatoes in pots on the porch using the keyword “growing organic tomatoes”.

The goal here is to take this topic and expand on it. You can also do this with ChatGPT by using the follow expansion prompt.

Expansion Prompt: 

Please expand on this topic 5 Easy Steps to Grow Organic Tomatoes in Pots on Your Porch by providing 5 bullet points for the steps.

You’ll then take that bulleted list and edit it to be your own original thought. Maybe you just take the overarching tips and expand on them yourself.

Then either take this and make a mini blog style idea pin or do a face to camera and make a video idea pin.

ChatGPT Prompts for Pinterest Keyword Research

Using ChatGPT for keyword research can speed things along especially for Pinterest, but please be sure to verify these are keywords pinners are searching for!

ChatGPT for Pinterest Keyword Research Prompt:

Please generate a list of 50 long-tail keywords to target on Pinterest for an ad selling handmade clay pots for houseplants to women 30-45.

You could use these keyword lists for organic marketing on Pinterest or Pinterest ads targeting. I would suggest starting with a list of 10-20 keywords and then asking it to continue making additional lists.

Prompts to Rework Responses

If you want to ask ChatGPT to rework the responses it gives you then you can use the following prompts to do so. Simply copy and paste them into your editor and then insert your response given by the tool.

• Please expand on (insert response given by GPT)
• Please clarify on (insert response given by GPT)
• Please explain (insert response given by GPT) further
• Please rewrite (insert response given by GPT) 
• Please expand (insert response given by GPT) to (insert # of characters)
