Content repurposing with your short-form video content from one platform to another has been a total game changer for my business. Today I’m going to take you behind the scenes, show you some stats, and discuss the pros and cons of my new favorite content repurposing tool in this Repurpose.io review.
I found this repurposing tool over the summer and signed up for it immediately. It has been a game changer for my tiny little business and has increased my viewership in my audience across four platforms so far. I’ve just added a fifth platform I’m using to repurpose to, and I am interested to see how the results will be on that platform in the coming months.
Here are some of the common questions I get about this topic. Even if you’re only looking at short form video, or a single platform like Pinterest, these ideas still apply.
Content repurposing and content recycling are related and very similar, but not exactly the same. Most content marketers have no issues with them being used interchangeably though.
Content repurposing is taking your content and putting it into different formats for other platforms. For example, you could turn a blog post into a podcast, or convert a webinar into a series of social media posts. I take my YouTube videos and transcribe them for the starting point of blog posts. The key is to maintain the core message or tutorial while just shifting and adapting it to the new format.
Content recycling is also reusing the same content without changes. But it’s more of re-posting the exact same piece of content in different places. For example, publishing an identical blog post on different social or news platforms or republishing the same newsletter in multiple emails.
With your content, just planning on using both of these ideas. But it’s most often described as simply content repurposing.

Here are some easy examples of social media repurposing. You’ve probably noticed these things if you follow certain brands or accounts on all of these channels.
Really, anything goes. Whatever you can think of with reusing your content is fair game.

If you own the content, then of course, it’s not illegal to repurpose it as much as you want, however you want. If it’s not your content, then obviously you need to credit the original creator. Tag them in the post or show their name when quoting or borrowing images or video.
Just remember copyright laws and plagiarism are still in play with anything you create. If you heavily use other peoples’ or brand copyrighted content because you’re a journalist or something, be familiar with copyright laws so you’re not doing anything illegal. Of course, publishing something that you didn’t write, that’s plagiarism.
If in doubt, only use your own content, and directly share who you’re quoting or where you’ve borrowed something with permission. Content creators love you to quote or share their work, as long as you indicate who created it.
Because there are many different ways you can repurpose content, there’s no one single tool that does it all. And with new AI tools constantly popping up doing different things, you need to know what function you’re looking for to begin with. Repurpose.io that this post is mainly about, is primarily for repurposing video and podcasts, publishing them in other places. But there are many other options you can checkout and play with.
Other tools you can checkout:
The most important thing to remember is that you cannot directly copy and paste your stuff and publish it all over. You still need to keep things appropriate for wherever you’re repurposing things to. Though some platforms have similar things you can almost copy and paste, like TikToks to Reels. Most need to be tweaked.
Always have a human eye review everything that’s recreated or repurposed before just blasting it out. Especially when it comes to written content, the format it is transformed into needs to be appropriate. Don’t just let your tool grab random sentences that don’t make sense in a video somewhere else, for example. Pick and choose to make sure it’s something you would watch or read and make sense of yourself.

This is an honest review of the tool Repurpose.io. I love the tool; otherwise, I wouldn’t create content on it. I will not waste my time creating content for things I do not like. Plus, I will never suggest a tool to my audience that I have not used personally in my business and have seen good results from.
Now, let’s talk about repurposing short-form video content and the power of getting it in front of your audience on multiple platforms. In the past, I’ve discussed repurposing TikToks to Pinterest idea pins and why you shouldn’t do this without a strategy. I still stand by that.
All the content I create in my own business is very strategic from one platform to the next. I don’t generally repurpose every TikTok I create to Pinterest idea pins because I don’t feel like it’s a good fit. The same with TikTok to shorts, TikTok to Instagram, and TikTok to Facebook reels, which is the new platform I just recently added.
Always ensure that the content you take from one platform to the next fits the platform you’re taking it from and putting it on. Not everything will match platform to platform, so be aware of that. But this tool, without a doubt, makes my life so much easier, and I can repurpose to five platforms and Vimeo without spending 10 minutes per video per platform.
“But this tool, without a doubt, makes my life so much easier, and I can repurpose to five platforms and Vimeo without spending 10 minutes per video per platform.”
That’s how long it took me when I was doing it with SnapTik. I would be bombarded with ads, which was just not a fun experience. So this platform makes it so much easier and repurposes everything without a watermark.

With that, let’s go ahead and dive into some of my stats. Later we’ll talk about some of the pros and cons of the content repurposing I’ve seen.
Now all of this is over 90 consistent days. I think those results are phenomenal!
The fifth platform I’m adding is Facebook reels. So for all of the content I’ve previously published, I’m in the process of scheduling two reels per day through Creator Studio onto that platform.
I’m adding a sixth platform. It’s not going to be Facebook reels that I’m publishing to; I’m going to be publishing YouTube videos to Facebook videos and YouTube videos to Vimeo. However, that is not the topic of this post. I mentioned this just in case you’re wondering what other repurposing I’m doing.

Here are some of the pros of Repurpose.io:
They are also API-approved through other platforms like Instagram, so you can auto-publish your TikToks to Instagram if you want to. I publish upwards of three to four TikToks daily, and I don’t want to bombard my Instagram speed with all those videos.
When I was just doing this short-form video content, it took only one hour to do it from Instagram. So through Repurpose.io, to Instagram, to Pinterest Video pins, to idea pins, and YouTube shorts. So that was a total game-changer. One hour to do a week’s worth of content, and I’m done for another week.

It wouldn’t be an honest review if there were not some cons. So let’s talk about those now.
But I do hope that at some point, the developers at Repurpose.io can add Vimeo to their connection stack. I would love to repurpose YouTube videos to Vimeo without having to download them again and upload them to another place. No hate on Repurpose.io because this just isn’t a feature available yet.
This content repurposing tool is very intuitive. It’s super easy to use. You don’t need to watch any training videos to understand it. You can figure it out in minutes if you just get in there and start playing around. So definitely go check it out.
Let’s hop into the Repurpose.io dashboard. I will show you your connection availability and my workflow sneak peek. So let’s dive into that, and I’ll show you behind the scenes.
“You don’t need to watch any training videos to understand it. You can figure it out in minutes.”
The first thing you will want to do when you get your account is to set up all your connections. So these are all of the connections available through Repurpose.io, and these are all of the connections, and if you watch my tutorial video above you can see all that I have currently set up.
Once you have your source connections set up, it will tell you if it can be a source or destination, or both. So Pinterest can only be a destination, and zoom can only be a source, whereas the rest can be both.
We can then navigate into Workflows, so this is where you’re going to set up the repurposing so it happens automatically. My workflows are all collecting content, but the only one I had set to automatic is TikTok to Google drive. So any TikTok that I publish will automatically go to my Google Drive.
I can do this with Facebook reels, Instagram reels, and any zoom videos. If I wanted to take anything I create in zoom on the cloud and zap it to Google Drive, I could do that.

There are a few things that you should know when you set up your workflows inside Repurpose.io. If you’re going from Instagram to reels, you’ll set up the workflow here. Once it’s set up inside your settings, you’ll click the little Settings icon on your workflow and scroll down on the screen that pops up. And then you have some other settings and things here that you could set up.
All of my content is collected inside this workflow, but I go in and schedule it once a week from TikTok through Repurpose.io to Instagram. In the other settings, pay attention to importing and exporting or excluding videos with specific hashtags, etc.
Some settings are on by default, such as using hashtags and texts to other platform descriptions. I would suggest turning it off because you want to customize anything coming from another platform to the platform that’s going to.
I suggest Append the Text to Description as “After Description.” So this will automatically publish whatever you specify in the Custom Text box to go after your Description. These hashtags are Pinterest hashtags or digital marketing hashtags that I’ve specifically created and found through Instagram.
Make sure that your setting is “On” for your Share to Instagram Feed. That’s the only change that I make.
You can go through and customize the settings on each workflow individually. Your connections are super simple to set up; it just takes you a couple of minutes. Customizing them once you have them set up might take you a couple more minutes, and you’re ready to go. It’ll start collecting all of your videos.
You can publish or schedule any of your content to your platforms. I’ve published 319 videos to date on TikTok. If I go into” View Content”, you can see that some say “Republish” because they’re already in my Google Drive, or your destination.
If I go into Shorts, I’ll see a different button. It says “Publish” when I have not published a video through Repurpose.io to TikTok yet. It says “Republish” if I’ve done it before. If you have scheduled it to go from one platform to the next, it’ll say “Queued”, then it’ll say “Processing”, and then it will eventually move to “Scheduled”.
If you need to fetch content, retry failed content, or reload, you can do that from the top right corner of the screen. The screen also has a toggle to manually or automatically publish from one platform to the next and then the settings to edit anything deeper in the workflows there.

Let us take a sneak peek at my workflows. I will walk you through the exact workflow (automated and scheduled) that I use with this tool. This is how my general workflow with Repurpose.io looks. I have a platform of choice that I publish on first: TikTok. I want to mention that all of my repurposing from TikTok is plus one week. So, anything I publish on any other platforms is a minimum of one week later, if not up to two weeks later.
I don’t do that for strategy. Every Tuesday, I sit down and do all my brand repurposing, which allows me to schedule everything in one batch, and I don’t have to do it every day. I don’t like auto-publish for many platforms because some don’t allow auto-publish, and for others, I would prefer to have a bit more control.
Everything starts on TikTok. Once I publish on TikTok, Repurpose.io picks up that video and syncs it to Google Drive within a few minutes. So all my videos are backed up in my Google Drive immediately without a watermark.
I will auto-schedule to Instagram reels, a Pinterest video pin, and occasionally to YouTube short. I customize the captions for those and the hashtags. For Facebook, Meta doesn’t allow anyone into the Reels API yet. So I have to use Creator Studio for that one, and I pull the videos from Google Drive.
The final one that I pull from Google Drive is for Pinterest again, but this is for Idea pins. Because Idea pins need to be customized and optimized for each idea pin for the platform, there is no scheduling through third parties to idea pins. Everything has to be done manually in that case.
So I will take the video from Google Drive and air-drop it to my phone. I upload everything for idea pins on my mobile phone. That’s my general workflow for Repurpose.io.
