About Heather Farris >
Have you just signed up for Tailwind for Pinterest but aren’t sure where to start?
If you’re reading this chances are you’re in one of two camps… you are new to the blogging block and you know you should be automating or you’ve been here for a while and your business needs Pinterest.
Whatever camp you’re in I’m here for you and ready to be of assistance.
Automating your pins with a tool like Tailwind is a great way to show up consistently without having to be the one hitting save on your pins all day every day.
So if you’re ready to dive in.
This tutorial also shows me using ClickUp with my Pinterest System alongside Tailwind. I use it with multiple schedulers and tools. You can get my Pinterest System right here.
I’m going to let you in on a big secret if you’re in the first camp of new to the block…. You don’t always want to use a 100% free pinning tool. Some that were really popular in the past weren’t actually authorized partners with Pinterest and many bloggers had unfortunate results.
Many great tools have basic free options, but depending on your needs and preferences, it is not always the way to go. But I do have a solution that is still popular that I used for years and that’s Tailwind. Tailwind is so easy to use and I want you to succeed so let’s checkout this tool.
You can signup for a free account with Tailwind if you’re new and just want to see what it’s all about. Then follow along with my video tutorial to get the basic of automating your pinning.

Why YES you can. I don’t think I needed to throw that headline in but hey it’s worth it to just solidify why I’m writing this post for you this week.
You can schedule your pins or have your VA schedule them using Tailwind. Bonus… You can even schedule your Instagram using Tailwind!
You pay a yearly subscription fee that is honestly dirt cheap and if you happen to have a friend like me in your pocket you can get started for a tad bit cheaper!

The Tailwind app sends your pins out during their prescheduled time so you don’t have to be online pinning your content manually.
Pinterest has come out and said they don’t care if your pins are pinned manually or if you use a scheduler.
So friend let’s cover just how you’re going to use Tailwind to schedule your pins in one hour or less per week.
I’ve used this wonderful tool the same way for every client. The repetition is sure to help your workflow move quicker overtime.
You create your blog posts or videos, Pinterest images and prepare your descriptions. Tailwind is the last piece of the puzzle when you’re sharing your content.
You can share your pins in one of two ways and I do it both ways for clients each week.
Many of my clients have a blog but I don’t have access to their site and they aren’t always on hand to upload pins to their posts.
In that case I upload their pins to Tailwind drafts and optimize them from there. I haven’t found a difference in pinning from their blog vs pinning from Tailwind.
The most important thing you can do here is to pin them to the most important board first.
If you haven’t read my Pinterest Automation Guide I encourage you to do so.
When you upload your pin to Tailwind drafts you will need the following ready to properly optimize your image:
If you haven’t pre-written the description or title you will need to do a little research before you schedule your pin.
Simply select Upload Media and select your pins in bulk from your computer.
Then you are going to Bulk Schedule, add all of your titles and descriptions, select your Pinterest boards to pin to, add the pin to your Communities (if you use them) and schedule it to your queue.
When you go back to your Home screen, then you’ll see your pins scheduled and from their you can edit or make changes in the future.
If you are pinning from your website you are going to use your Tailwind Chrome extension now to pull the pin into your queue.
Once you do that another window will pop up and you will choose your Pin image then click schedule or save to drafts.
If you click schedule the pin will automatically go to your queue. Don’t forget if you add multiple boards to your pin to click ‘use interval’ so you aren’t spamming a bunch of boards all in one day. I would suggest 30 day intervals for evergreen content and 7-14 day intervals for seasonal content.

Every business is so different and depending on how much content you have to promote you could do more.
But a short answer for you is 1-2 of your own pins per day depending on the amount of content you wish to push out.
I wouldn’t push out anymore than 3-5 pins per day myself and we certainly do not do this for clients.

Yes, you can use Tailwind to pin other people’s content to your queue. I would suggest using Communities (previously called Communities) if you want to do this. But it’s not necessary for successful growth on Pinterest.
Pinning other people’s content doesn’t bring you more traffic or sales. The most it will do is increase your Pinterest monthly viewer number.
Tailwind Communities are a great way to get your content in front of other audiences quickly. Tailwind Communities are so much better than Pinterest group boards (which you do NOT need to be using at all anymore).
You are held responsible by whomever runs the Community. There are unique rules for each Community you should be aware of. But most are usually 1:1 contributing your own pins and pinning others’ pins inside the Tribe. Some are set that you contribute at least 2-3 pins for every one you pin from others.
You can often re-contribute the same pins after a period of time to get them fresh in the community feed, especially if they’re your highest performing pins. Just be sure you’re not spamming the same things constantly or you’ll likely be kicked out of the Tribe.

I can honestly say I do not use Tailwind on mobile. I think it’s a great concept but honestly it takes too many steps and I don’t really care to jump through them all to use the app.
Plus I don’t need anymore apps on my phone calling me to work when I shouldn’t be working.
If you want to know how to do this then I would suggest checking out Tailwind’s blog post on this very topic.
I like Tailwind because they have a few analytics tools that I can use that aren’t part of Google or Pinterest.
I really like to keep an eye on my boards using Board Insights. You can see just how well your Pinterest strategy is working and how well your boards are performing.
I like to use this little tool as a way to inspire new content for clients as well. If you notice one board is just doing super well then perhaps you should take an opportunity to see what you can create and pin to that board.
Communities Insights are a wonderful tool too.
This is the thing that your group board is missing to see how well your board is performing. You can see how well your pins are performing within the Communities.
When you look at Tribe Insights you will see something like this.
You can see just how many repins you’re getting and how much reach those tribes are getting.
Great question! Tailwind Ghostwriter is the newest AI tool built in. They are calling it AI Labs and within it you have Ghostwriter. You can use it to do so many different things but my favorite feature is for Pinterest obviously.
You can use it to write your pin titles and descriptions.

I’m gutted. I’ve been having problems on tailwind from the get go. It never posts to the community tribes, and when it does it’s done it two and three times. It also seems to be taking off from my monthly allowance when I pin other people pins from the tribes. I’m just about to give up with it, as I can’t take the stress of it
