What should you pin in May? That is a burning question and I see a lot of buzz in groups about it.
May is typically when you start to transition (if you are a work at home mom) to a role that includes your kids being at home with you.
However, May is also the kickoff of Summer for many people. More people are going to be outside and with that generally means a dip in traffic.
Don’t freak out and fire your Pinterest Strategist! Now is the time to buckle down and get to work so you don’t slip so far backwards that you can’t find your way back.
So shall we dive into trends for May and what you should be pinning?
May is the month that Summer kicks off even though the beginning of summer techinally isn’t until June. You have kids getting out of school, summer camps, bar-b-ques, weddings… the list goes on.
I was just walking through Walmart this week and they have already started selling fans and swimming pools. Not to mention the fruit themed dishes hitting the shelves.
May is hot so you want to think about things to do outside. Pinners are going to be searching for topics related to gardening and outdoor dining.
Start pinning topics related to:
Believe it or not if you are looking to promote pins for May you might be a bit behind the boat. However, you can still get started you just need to jump in now.
If you need help with your promoted pin campaigns we do that too! Get in touch and choose promoted pins in the dropdown!
If you have content related to any of the above topics and you’d like to get eyes on it in numbers then now is the time to go ahead and get those pins promoted.
Topics around graduation, wedding planning and travel are extremely hot in May!
My best performing campaigns for lead generation have typically been to landing pages. Blog posts haven’t converted subscribers as well but it’s worth a shot to test it for your audience.
Now is the time to start planning content for June & July. It’s time to start pinning for topics that are typically hot in June & July. Whether or not you are ready for it. Pinners are planners. They are planning ahead of time.
Typically you will start pinning about a topic 30-45 days in advance at a minimum.
If you are looking for content to create around these months you should consider some of the following:
These ideas aren’t the beginning and end of the list. Obviously, not everyone is in the same niche but this gives you an idea of what you can start pinning. If you are in the B2B niche think about what business owners are facing right now with Summer being here.
Working moms and dads might be looking for productivity tips, home office, delegating and outsourcing, passive income ideas and more.
Think about where your pinner is in their journey and pin what their pain points are going to be for that timeframe.
This is the time to start making pins for your older content that are seasonally based. If you have time management posts make pins that are summer related and send them to those time management posts.
You could also take some time to create roundups of your best topic based content and make pin images that are seasonally themed as well.
During these summer months people tend to be spending more time outdoors so you need to meet them where they are.
Each and every strategy I create for clients is custom but there are certain aspects of each strategy that are the same.
