About Heather Farris >
We often talk about the importance of SEO on this channel, whether in the form of Google SEO for your blog or Pinterest SEO for your Pinterest account. In today’s post, I want to talk to you about the importance of writing really good product descriptions for your Shopify store.
Today we’ll be using Tailwind Ghostwriter.
I have a Shopify store, I sell digital products, and I do this through:
So I thought it would be fun to show you how I use an AI tool to create and edit my product descriptions to make them feel like me. In today’s post, I will walk you through how to use Tailwind AI Labs to do just that.
I want to mention that I’m getting paid to create this post. Tailwind is paying me, but all of these opinions are my own. Just like every other tutorial I have created about Tailwind, some with great outcomes and some with criticism, all opinions are my own.
In fact, Tailwind AI Labs will also help you to craft product descriptions that are general for e-commerce or if you want to write Amazon, Etsy, and Shopify listings. Those product build-outs are already there in the AI Labs tool.
Before we talk about how to do it with AI Labs, let us talk about four critical points when it comes to writing your product descriptions. The importance of your product descriptions are:
Then hopefully, your advocacy and your email marketing, and your marketing channel, in general, will bring your audience back to be repeat buyers.

Let us talk about the four important components of the product description.
1. Your brand voice. It is crucial that your product description, even written in AI, encompasses your own brand voice.
2. Your product description. It should provide value to your prospective customer by telling them not only what the product is going to do, but it should sell the benefits as well as the features. You should be informing your customer what they will get and how it will help them in their lives.
3. SEO optimization. This is an obvious one. It should contain SEO. It should contain the keywords that you want to rank for on Google and elsewhere.
4. Benefits focused. I already mentioned it in #2, but let’s ensure we are selling the benefits, not just the features.
Benefits are things like:
Features are things like:
Features will help us understand our product as a whole, whereas benefits will help us understand how the product will change our life. Not to be dramatic, but that is what you want to do.
So, without further ado, let’s dive into the tutorial and start writing this product description. While we’re doing that, I will show you how I am editing it and what else I am including in the product descriptions, as well as touching on product tags.

Let’s go ahead and dive into the AI Labs tab on the left-hand side of your Tailwind dashboard. (Watch the video above to watch my screen as I go.) Once there, you will scroll down and look at the center column. These things may change, but there’s Shopify or Etsy listing for now. There are also Amazon and other general e-commerce listings here. I’m going to go with Shopify because that is the store that we are going to write a title for today.
I have this Boho pin template set for sale in my shop that we will use this one as an example today. I have this listing and I want to write a product description for it. So we first need to give it a name, and I’m simply going to copy and paste the information from my Shopify store and we will utilize that.
We design and sell pre-made Pinterest templates for Canva that you can quickly plug-n-play and get your Pinterest marketing strategy going fast!
These Pinterest templates for Canva are fully editable and can be branded to your businesses with a click of a button. Stop searching how to create pins on Pinterest and start creating them!
We’re going to fill out the appropriate fields for the Shopify store listing options we’re going to create. I have a list of keywords and all my listing details that the Tailwind Ghostwriter tool needs already in a separate word doc. It makes it easier so that I can just copy and paste faster.
The target audience is content creators, digital product sellers, course creators, coaches, etc. So I’m going to input that information. I’ve input my target audience: digital product sellers who are selling courses or digital products to coaches, service providers, bloggers, and content creators.
Now that I have my keywords there, I will copy and paste my unique value into that box. Now I’m going to go ahead and format that with commas so it doesn’t have run-on sentences. Remember, this is AI, so you have to teach it how to think.
Next, click ‘Generate Shopify Product Description’ and wait until it is done.

So it gave us a product title: Boho Style Pinterest Templates For Canva.
I like that, so I’m just going to cut and paste that right into my Shopify listing product listing.
I will probably remove the word ‘style’ and replace it with the word ‘themed’ because I know that is a keyword people are looking for. Then I am going to copy the product description, but it is probably going to have some edits to it.
Then it also gives us a list of product tags we can use. I already have tags on my Shopify store, so I feel like these tags will be good if you are creating a Shopify store from scratch. Or if you’re looking for tags for Etsy, then these might be a good addition to your Etsy store.
You don’t have to be set in stone with what they give you, but it’s a great starting place if you’re starting from scratch.
Now we need to edit this for brand voice and make sure that this sounds like me. Always edit for voice!

Let’s talk about these edits needed. So, anything that is yellow (see the video tutorial) is something I added, and anything struck through with a strike-through line is something I have taken out. Essentially these were words of theirs that I did not like, or I may have restructured a sentence a little bit.
For example, I have removed the word “game” and the word “bid.” I would never say those two words. So if you are using AI and it is spitting out content that you would never say in real life, make sure you remove it. Because it’s not worth you looking like an idiot or you looking like you are copying and pasting AI content.
So go ahead and remove anything that does not align with your brand. Remember, one of the four components of a good product description is encompassing your own brand voice. AI will not be perfect at this.
Now that we are done, we are actually ready to put this on Shopify. That is it. That’s how I am utilizing Tailwind AI Labs to write my product descriptions.
