It’s here. Generic AI labels came in 2025 on Pinterest, but they were not enough. We, as a community, have been demanding account level Pinterest AI settings.
In today’s post, I’m going to tell you exactly how you can opt out of seeing AI created pins in your feed, with a couple caveats. Plus if you do use AI in your creative content, here’s what you need to know and watch out for.
I obviously have AI tools that I sell and I use consistently, but not when it comes to generating images with AI and putting them on Pinterest. It has become a slop factory on the platform, and has really distributed content in a way that skews towards AI.
Not everyone on Pinterest wants to see AI content. Some people believe that it is morally and ethically wrong, and it conflicts with most purposes of audiences on the platform. A lot of people are just unhappy with AI created images, and often rightfully so.

Number one, at the time of recording the above video, the settings are not available on iOS just yet. As of December 2025, I can see within the Pinterest Help Center, there is guidance on managing the AI settings for all devices: web, android, iOS.

I imagine you can access everything even in iOS. It’s possible you may run into a setting here and there that isn’t exact yet as they roll things out. I imagine they’re doing things as fast as they can without breaking any functionality.
So, let’s just dive right into your account settings so you can actually see what this looks like.
There is a clear way now to get rid of the AI content in your feed on Pinterest. Here’s how:

There are only 10 of the main interests from the platform listed there right now. Another 14 more categories are yet to be covered, but will be coming soon. This gets all AI content out of all your feeds, not just the main Home feed, but all of them.

Even after telling Pinterest what you want to have or not have in your feed, things can still leak through. After I turned all of mine off, I still would see AI images here and there. Things still leak through and there are only so many ways they can detect AI content right now, but it gets better every day.
It’s definitely a work in progress, but this is definitely better than what we had before, which was essentially nothing. So that’s how you do it. Now, this is obviously not going to stop all of the Gen AI in your feed because there are only so many ways that they can detect the AI images right now.
Even as a Pinterest Educator, I’m only privy to so much information. I am given some information under lock and key, but I was not given this information until it went public. The same way that you learned about it, it went like wildfire.

If you have an audience, especially one that is creative, where the impact of AI generated content would impact their business or followers as well, share this with them. This impacts everyone, especially if you’re marketing on Pinterest, or even just use Pinterest regularly.
These settings by default are all toggled ‘on’. So you must turn them off if you want to control those factors, make sure they’re off. Take care of that right away, and it will be one step closer to helping keep things clean for your feeds and your own marketing efforts if you fall into that category.
If using AI tools to create your content, or AI images are part of your desired branding style, etc. then know that your pins (if detected by Pinterest) will be labeled with the “AI-generated content” labels so viewers know.
This means if you’re using AI tools like DALL·E or Midjourney to create Pinterest pin images (or even AI-assisted designs in tools like Canva), Pinterest will start labeling those images as AI-generated.
This is part of Pinterest’s effort to build trust and transparency as AI content becomes more common. Pinterest’s own AI labeling technology will automatically flag content created by certain tools now. This change is NOT about penalizing AI content, but about making it clear to users when a pin has been AI-generated.

If you’re using AI tools in your pin creation process, start thinking about what you’ll need to label and where and watch for updates about how things may change. If you’re in Pin Profit Academy, I provide personal support and announcements about big changes like these to my community first-hand.

Marketing can be difficult and trying to figure it out on your own, especially with Pinterest, can be overwhelming.
I will show you how to double your traffic and sales without spending another minute on social media!
PPA is the only comprehensive membership program & community for creating, marketing & selling your products & services using Pinterest.
It’s important to know that Pinterest will be labeling images for you and you will not be labeling them yourselves. Here’s a quote from Pinterest’s announcement:
“To do this, we not only analyze an image’s metadata, but also developed classifiers that automatically detect Gen AI content, even if the content doesn’t have obvious markers.”
Even if you try to get around the systems by removing metadata, your pins can still get this label and users will be able to remove it from their feeds if they wish. Your AI generated pins will start having the option from the three dots on a pin for viewers to opt out of seeing pins like yours in their feeds.

If you find that your pins get caught in the AI filters when they shouldn’t be, you can submit an appeal here so they directly look at your pin. I haven’t been through that process, nor have more information on it, but I know it exists and wanted to make sure you knew.

I really think this is a great move in the direction of human-made content. In general, I don’t care to see AI generated content at all. I want to see real art, real beauty tips, real food, real fashion, home decor and more.
As Pinterest evolves, so do we. My job is to stay ahead of changes like this so you can keep showing up confidently and effectively with your Pinterest marketing strategy. Optimize your Pinterest AI settings and watch for more news on this to come as things evolve.
